Our Work

The Croydon Lions have been involved in so many fund-raising projects to list. Major and domestic charities are as well as smaller ones, including individual's, are, supported by the Lions through projects which help raise funds. Where-ever possible the Lions strive to support as many requests that circumstances dictate. This can only be done by the continued help from individuals who sacrifice so much of their time and effort not just from the Lions members themselves but also from the many volunteers. The Lions are a recognised and respected organisation that is known to participate in promoting other charities and fund raising groups and events. Lions are people from every walk of life who wish to put something back into the community, who enjoy helping other people who are less fortunate than ourselves, and who have fun doing it! We involve family and friends not only in our service activities but also in social events.

Although Clubs are involved in International, National and District projects the major emphasis is always on ways to help the less fortunate in the local community. This local help takes many forms, a few of which are:

Social activities, outings or holidays for the elderly, disabled or special needs.
Practical assistance for those unable to help themselves.
Helping to provide equipment for hospitals, other organizations or individuals.
Helping to raise funds for other local charitable groups.
Assisting families in distress.

Some of our regular events include:

  • Message in a Bottle
  • Marie Currie Cancer Care
  • World Sight Day
  • Remembrance Day (Poppy selling and march)
  • Change-over Dinner
